Dr. Sara Vogel is the Associate Director, Computing Integrated Teacher Education, City University of New York (CUNY). An education researcher focusing at the intersection of bilingual, social justice, and computing education, Sara co-designs, co-coordinates, and co-conducts the research associated with the CT to CS RPP. A born-and-raised Brooklynite, Sara was a middle school bilingual public school teacher and a digital media educator. She is currently faculty in the Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) residency program at Bank Street College and co-founder of the Participating in Literacies and Computer Science (PiLaCS) project. She has a PhD in Urban Education from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. As a teacher-educator, Sara uses CT in her lesson planning -- abstracting and decomposing the complex act of teaching into component parts.
